Hamilton, Cherry, Spradlin & Mandrell, Ltd. began in 1962 when C.M. "Mac" Angel founded the practice as a sole proprietorship in Central Arkansas. With a commitment to client-focused, hands-on service, the firm quickly built a strong reputation. In 1971, Bob Humphrey joined the practice, marking the beginning of a significant partnership. By 1975, the firm transitioned to a professional corporation, establishing the foundation for future growth.1980s
Growth and Leadership Expansion
In 1980, Mitchell Hamilton joined the firm, bringing fresh energy and expertise to the team. By 1985, Mitchell became a shareholder and partner, further solidifying the firm’s leadership. Throughout this decade, the firm continued to emphasize high-quality, personal service, building long-lasting relationships with clients across various industries.1990s
Leadership Transitions and New Partnerships
The 1990s were a pivotal time for the firm. In 1993, Mac Angel retired from public accounting to work in the private sector for a longtime client. Shortly after, Jay Cherry and David Spradlin joined the staff, contributing to the firm's evolution. In 1996, Mitchell Hamilton became the sole shareholder following Bob Humphrey’s decision to step down as managing partner. By 1998, Jay Cherry and David Spradlin were admitted as shareholders and partners, completing the leadership team.2000s
New Talent, Retirement, and Growth
In 2006, Matthew Mandrell joined the firm as the newest CPA, bringing extensive auditing experience that allowed the firm to expand its service offerings. His contributions and leadership skills propelled him to partner in 2013, further modernizing the firm’s capabilities. During this time, Bob Humphrey retired fully, concluding a remarkable career and leaving a lasting legacy of leadership and client dedication.2010s
